Using whatever technology is at hand at any given moment, WYRM constructs aural amalgamations of genres now often referred to as “dark ambient” and experimental “electronica”. Often the end results are as equally repulsive as they are intriguing. Expressed through music, WYRM’s fascination lies with the shadow aspects of human existence—yet constitutes virtue, consciousness-expansion, and illumination.

The first incarnation of WYRM was a live performance at the Mercury-Free Retrograde 9/23/00 event at Vincent’s Ear in Asheville, NC. Some other acts performing that night were Sword Volcano Complex featuring Karl Blake (with whom Allan Zane also collaborates), 11:11, and Sinister Senile. Despite some technical difficulties, WYRM’s partially improvised performance was surprisingly well received and later released as three separate private-edition CD-R’s on their own DIS’S pFIFA label.

Since this first incarnation, the WYRM line-up has evolved. The current members are John Murphy (with whom Allan Zane also collaborates with as Shining Vril), and Kensaku AKA “Scara” Nishizato (contributor to Nurse With Wound’s “An Awkward Pause”). Future WYRM releases include a collaborative 7” single with Shining Vril and Sword Volcano Complex…
